Dundalk Vigil for Missing Boy

A local community in Dundalk has gathered for a vigil in memory of Kyran Durnin, the eight-year-old boy who is feared to be deceased. This assembly in Market Square was the second of its kind set up for the young boy. The townsfolk came together, some lighting candles beneath a prominent advertisement screen that exhibited a montage of Kyran’s images and the question “Where is wee Kyran Durnin?”.

The Garda has initiated a murder probe linked to his disappearance. Recently, inquiries led to a search of the Durnin family’s old residence and the neighbouring territories in Dundalk. For operational reasons, the Garda is withholding the search results.

A murder case was opened earlier this month in the wake of Kyran and his mother’s disappearance report. Although Kyran’s mother has been found, the boy’s location is still a mystery and it’s believed that he’s dead. Astonishingly, it seems that Kyran might have been missing for a couple of years before the authorities were informed.

Brittany McEnteggart, a local, coordinated Monday’s vigil. “We hope to persist in holding these tiny vigils of hope until we discover Kyran and bring him back. Our primary objective is to solve Kyran’s case” she claims. McEnteggart is committed to creating awareness about Kyran’s case, which she believes is of utmost importance.

The Irish Child and Family Agency, Tusla, expressed “serious concerns” about the lost child to the Garda back in August. Tusla is set to finish a report on the case this week.
