“Duff Apologises for Threatening FAI Staff Sackings”

Damien Duff, former Ireland assistant coach, has expressed regret for suggesting that 90 percent of FAI personnel should be dismissed. Duff has played down his previous comments about Abbotstown being an unwelcoming, insipid workspace, perhaps the worst globally. These were views he strongly held owing to his monthly dreaded experiences. On Saturday, Duff issued an apology to the FAI staff, calling his earlier remarks ‘ridiculous’.

The Shelbourne head coach wrote an apologetic letter to all FAI staff members admitting his mistake of suggesting firing 90 percent of them, a comment he made during a media session on Wednesday 10th July. Acknowledging his previous comments as wrong, Duff issued an apology to all FAI hardworking personnel who are tirelessly working towards the improvement of Irish football while juggling personal financial responsibilities.

Duff expressed remorse for his distasteful comment, thereby admitting that such remarks were disrespectful and that the staff members had every right to be upset and resentful. Though Duff proclaims his love for Irish football and the league alike, he emphasises that his outburst did neither any favours. Duff’s emotional tirade backfired, reflecting poorly on both him and his fight for the game.
