Train operations in the northern region of Dublin have resumed after a significant interruption this morning. However, Irish Rail warns that due to the severity of the initial issues, delays will continue for several hours. The railway company’s technical team has apparently resolved the issue, which originated from a power outage at Clontarf, preventing a train from departing Clontarf Road.
This problem resulted from damage to the overhead lines in the vicinity, causing a significant amount of disruption. This resulted in trains being unable to travel between Connolly station and Killester, impacting other services in Dublin as well.
Shortly after half-past ten in the morning, Irish Rail revealed that the glitch with the overhead line was fixed. Services were about to begin again, but due to congestion and procedural issues, there will likely be subsequent delays to services.
The railway firm’s spokesperson confirmed that services had restarted. Irish Rail had previously released a statement saying that damage to overhead wires at Clontarf Road had caused the suspension of Dart and Northern Commuter services between Killester and Connolly. Dublin Connolly and Drogheda were served by a bus transfer for Enterprise services.
While the problem was being addressed, crews were working on-site, and Dublin Bus accepted rail tickets. The company expressed regret to customers for the disruption.
In a separate incident, Bus Éireann announced a disruption in its call centre phone lines, prompting customers to contact them via emails at [email protected] or direct messages on social media platforms.
