“Dublin Search Yields €8m Drug Seizure”

Due to an intelligence-led operation by the Dublin Crime Response Team, a search took place at a property in The Ward, Dublin 11, last night. This operation resulted in the seizure of suspected illegal drugs worth over €8 million and cash amounting to €1 million. A male suspect was arrested during the operation. The seized narcotics, which include cocaine, cannabis, ketamine, LSD and MDMA, will now undergo analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

The arrested individual is currently being held under Section 2 of the 1996 Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act in a Dublin Garda station. This law allows him to be detained for a maximum period of one week.

A series of additional follow-up searches made across the Dublin Metropolitan Region brought about further seizures of cash, designer items and vehicles. Angela Willis, the assistant commissioner in the Dublin Metropolitan Region, characterised the raid as a significant setback to an organised crime gang notorious for causing distress across several city communities. She emphasised that confiscating the finances which serve as the backbone of these criminal organisations deals a substantial blow to their operations.

With Gardaí persistently pursuing those whose activities inflict harm on lives, the investigation on this vexing organised crime group is in progress, drawing attention from the Criminal Assets Bureau.
