“Dublin Bus-Motorcycle Collision Hospitalises Man”

In a bid to gather further information, the Gardaí have made a public appeal following a severe vehicular accident in Dublin that occurred on Saturday, resulting in a motorcycle rider being admitted to hospital. The event, involving a collision between a bus and a motorcycle, happened on Nangor Road, at its intersection with Willow Road in Clondalkin, shortly before 9:15 pm.

Emergency services, including the Gardaí, were swiftly informed and attended to the situation. The male motorcyclist, in his late 40s, was initially taken to Tallaght University Hospital before being moved to Beaumont Hospital. His current health status is reported to be stable. The bus driver did not need urgent medical assistance.

The Gardaí are now requesting anyone who might have information about the incident, especially those with video evidence like dash cam footage from the vehicles at the scene at the time of the crash, to step forward. Persons who can provide any information are being asked to reach out to the Garda station in Clondalkin at 01 6667600, call the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or contact any local Garda station.

Latest statistics reveal that up until Friday of this week, there have been 92 fatalities on the roads in 2024, a jump of 10 compared to the total at the same time the previous year. Last year’s death count reached a near-decade high. A worrying statistic shows that out of those who died this year, 12 were motorbike riders, a disproportionately high figure considering their presence on the roads. In a comparison, 33 were drivers, 20 passengers, and 20 pedestrians. The remaining were cyclists and e-scooter riders.
