The Dublin Airport operator, daa, has invested over €18 million for noise insulation and home buyouts in surrounding locations. This process included the acquisition of six residential properties near the airport, under daa’s voluntary home purchase programme. So far, this scheme has been proffered to the owners of 41 homes. The scheme allows those living in specified areas to sell their homes to Dublin Airport for a price that’s 30% above the market value. The airport has expressed its readiness to acquire more residences from willing homeowners who wish to relocate.
Furthermore, daa has installed noise insulation in 170 houses and three schools nearby the airport while another 47 homes have been offered this insulation. As the operator strikes a balance between national airport operations and local communities’ needs, daa restates its promise to provide even more insulations in the months and years to come.
A fresh online instrument, Maploom, was launched on Thursday by the authority. This tool simplifies public access to check their eligibility for the airport’s noise insulation and home buyout schemes by simply entering their Eircode.
The Delhi Airport managing director, Gary McLean, acknowledged that the airport operations could affect residents and those schooling in adjacent areas. He assured continued investment in minimising this impact, citing the considerable resources already applied in the reduction effort.
