An autopsy conducted on a male body found in Co Louth on Wednesday evening has concluded that the death was non-suspicious. The deceased man was found on a deserted piece of land within Drogheda’s Greenhills area, close to industrial premises, at about 9 pm. Notable physical trauma to the man, such as blood visible from his mouth and eyes, initially led to suspicions of possible assault earlier in the day.
However, following a detailed autopsy conducted the following Thursday afternoon, law enforcement officers, the Gardaí, established that there were no criminal elements linked to the incident. The man, who was in his 30s and originally from Eastern Europe, has yet to be identified by his relatives, and efforts are underway to locate them.
The Gardaí speculate that his body might’ve been in the wasteland for several hours prior to being discovered. A Gardaí spokeswoman confirmed that the investigation would continue as part of their obligation to provide a report to the local coroner. The discovery of the man’s body was made by people passing by on Wednesday evening, who promptly informed the Gardaí. Upon arrival, emergency services confirmed that the man had indeed expired at the scene.
