Dogpatch Labs partners with Iarnród Éireann to revolutionise train journeys

“Iarnród Éireann, the Irish railway system, is collaborating with innovation hub Dogpatch Labs in a significant new partnership. The ambition of this association is to revolutionise Ireland’s railways. The devised programme, Future Track, aims to encourage innovation within the company. This will be led by the staff of Iarnród Éireann, who will cultivate and evolve their ideas into economically promising projects over a quarter of a year.

The framework will enable the staff to connect with entrepreneurs, sector leaders globally, and fledgling companies. They will then assist in the evolution of their ideas into projects. These will be demonstrated to the company’s senior leaders on the demo day of the programme.

Dogpatch Labs CEO, Patrick Walsh, voiced his excitement about amplifying the already innovative aura within the organisation. He discussed infusing a startup mentality in their workforce and enabling them to draw from the entrepreneurial network, ecosystem and community. The purpose being, addressing the crucial sustainability challenges directly.

The transport firm is already heavily committed to pouring finances into modern technologies and projects, aimed at enhancing the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of the railway system.

Jim Meade, the CEO of Irish Rail spoke about the company’s high aspirations of cultivating the railway into the pillar of Ireland’s sustainable transport system. He expressed this ambition for both commuters and goods transport. He shared how the company yearns to amplify its innovation capabilities and inspire the development of fresh ideas to elevate customer experience and assist railway decarbonisation. With enthusiasm, he acknowledged the collaboration with Dogpatch Labs, underlining how it should offer their team the chance to give life to profoundly innovative ideas.
