Harvey Weinstein found guilty of rape

He has been declared guilty by a 12-member jury, comprising of seven men and five men. The jury deliberated on the case for five days and finally reached a consensual decision declaring Weinstein as guilty for two charges, performing oral sex on Mimi Haley in 2006 and Jessica Mann in 2013. But he was not found guilty for one of the most serious charges of predatory sexual assault.

This decision is being touted as the beginning of a new era of justice as the disgraced Hollywood producer was one of the most high-profile accused in the iconic #MeToo movement. Various witnesses testified in the court against the predatory behaviour of Wienstein, which formed the basis of the decision of the jury.

The prosecutors are now contemplating bringing him to trial to face the charges which could see many new witnesses participating in the trial. Despite the announcement of the jury, lawyers representing Weinstein said that they do not agree with this decision and will continue fighting for him.
