A man, aged 28, is facing charges related to the killing of a woman in Derry the previous weekend. The victim, a 65-year-old woman named Montserrat Martorell, was discovered lifeless inside a Derry flat last Saturday. The male individual was apprehended on Monday amid doubts over his involvement in Montserrat’s killing. Moreover, aside from facing murder charges on Wednesday, he also stands accused of rape and intentionally starting a fire with the aim to threaten life. The accused is scheduled to stand before magistrates in Derry Court on Thursday. – PA
