If you’re not interested in wasting half your salary on petrol, and you don’t like the bulky 20th century bike models, you could go to California and get yourself a Derringer.
Derringer in Los Angeles has produced some unique cycles in a vintage style, replicas of 1920’s design racing bikes.
These bikes are equipped with a tiny Honda 50cc four-stroke motor, which can reach between 20 and 40 miles an hour.
You can use these bikes on the track or even try out a little off-road riding.
They have a drum brake, one gear with a clutch and a free wheeling rear meaning you can ride with the pedals stopped.
The bikes have incredible fuel efficiency, completing 150 miles per gallon, and about 70 km/litre of CO2 emissions.
If you’re interested in purchasing one of these gems, you will have to get yourself a plane ticket first as the models are available for sale in the US only.
