Defence Forces Duo Hospitalised Post-Parachuting

During a regular parachute drill on Thursday, a pair of members from the Defence Forces experienced a mishap which consequently necessitated their hospitalisation. The occurrence transpired as the individuals, part of the parachute showcase team, made their descent by parachute onto the Defence Forces bases at Curragh, in County Kildare.

In a press release that came out on Thursday evening, it was publicly acknowledged by the Defence Forces’ press office that “two staff experienced injuries when landing during common parachute demonstration team training today at the Defence Forces Training Centre”.

The nature of the injuries remained non-critical, and both individuals were transported to a hospital via Defence Forces ambulance, with their conditions now stable. Members from various ranks and services, both permanent and reserve constitute the parachute display team.

Adhering to the operational procedures of the Defence Forces, an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the mishap is now under way.
