As the De Tomaso SLC becomes the De Tomaso SLS (from Sports Luxury Crossover to Sports Luxury Sedan, of course), we get these new pics of the De Tomaso revival among very mixed reactions.
The De Tomaso SLS will go on show at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show where we will get a closer look at what so far seems like odd-looking proportions.
The Mercedes-Benz name will get another change before the model goes into production, and according to boss Gian Mario Rossignolo another two models will be developed off the same platform – a De Tomaso coupé and a more conventional luxury sedan.
Meanwhile the current De Tomaso SLS should go into a production run of about 3,000 units next year.
The engine options from launch date should be two units which take us back to original expectations that we would see a couple of powerful options available.
A V6 model with 300 hp is planned, and a V8 unit with 550 hp will join it.
There will likely be a future V6 diesel model with about 250 hp which should appease the European market, where the new De Tomaso SLS has been described as being of distinctly American flavour.
