De Bruyne Considers Leaving for Saudi Club

Kevin De Bruyne, one of Manchester City’s most celebrated players, has expressed his willingness to potentially part ways with the club, citing the remarkable financial prospects at a club in Saudi Arabia. De Bruyne, who will be turning 33 this month, has been a part of City since August 2015, and is mindful of the rapidly advancing stage of his career.

Discussing his situation with Belgian publication HLN, De Bruyne said he has a year left on his City contract and needs to consider his next steps, especially considering his oldest child has only ever known life in England. While his weekly earning of around £400,000 (approximately €470,000) makes him the top-earning player in English football, the potentially lucrative deal from Saudi Arabia is proving hard to dismiss.

De Bruyne said at his current stage, it’s important to be receptive to all options, including the prospect of earning vast sums towards the close of his career in Saudi Arabia. Before considering this, De Bruyne said, he has played for 15 years and may not even be able to amass as much as he could there in two years alone.

During his spell at Manchester City, De Bruyne has won six Premier League titles, two FA Cup titles – the Champions League, the Fifa Club World Cup, and the Carabao Cup five times. As a pivotal part of City’s 2022 – 2023 treble-winning squad, he was awarded the PFA player of the year twice, and has been thrice recognised as the Premier League Playmaker of the season. However, a final decision on whether he will stay or move is yet to be made, he added.
