Daily Use of the Irish Language

I would like to draw attention to the discontent expressed by Andrew O’Donovan regarding the prevalence of Irish language signs. It is my hope that not many share his sentiment (Letters, October 28th). The feedback I’ve collected from fellow citizens leads me to believe that a significant majority develop a favourable opinion towards our native language, keen to see it prosper and evolve.

Crucial to this development is the de-marginalisation of Irish speakers, affirming them as equal contributors to our Irish society.
Countries that use more than one language like Belgium, Switzerland, and Luxembourg, have seamlessly integrated equal signage, reflecting the equality of all citizens. Why should it be tricker on our side?

In reality, I feel there isn’t any issue here, simply the unwavering opinion of individuals such as Mr O’Donovan that the Irish language should remain “out of sight, out of mind”, unlike children. It’s me,
