Possible fine for the pilot Cyril Despres for shooting the promotional video for KTM Freeride without authorization.
French rally driver Cyril Despres could be fined after shooting the promotional video for KTM Freeride because unauthorized by the Ministry of Tourism. Remember this promotional video of the KTM Freeride 350 ? That with Dakar winner Cyril Despres and mountain bike rider Cedric Gracia riding around the Andorran mountains?
Apparently the film crew did not obtain the necessary permits from the Ministry of Tourism and Enviroment to ride along the Casamanya Peak. In addition, they did not have the permit either for the other spots of the Andorran Pyrenees.
In fact, one of the city councils has started legal action to fine both two riders (Despres resides in the Andorran town of Arinsal) for ‘violating’ the area without permission. The fine could be between 50 and 500 euros.I t is really peanuts if you compare the feedback and publicity that the Freeride 350 received after this video.
Who is Cyril Despres who risks being fined ? Cyril Despres was born in 1974 in Fontainebleau, France. He is a motorcycle driver and a French rally driver, specialized in rally raids. In fact, Cyril has won the Dakar Rally in five different editions. Moreover, he has won other Rallies.
In 2004 and 2005 the Rally of Tunisia; in 2000 and 2012 the Rally of Morocco and in 2008 and 2009 the Sardinia Rally Race. He currently lives in the micro-state of Andorra, located between France and Spain. In fact, the motorcyclist speaks perfectly Catalan.
After leaving KTM, Cyril approached the Japanese house Yamaha. With the new motorbike he won a goal at the Rally dos Sertoes. He has in fact won the fourth stage of the Rally dos Sertoes, an event that takes place in Brazil, preceding the historical rival and ex-teammate in KTM Marc Coma.
