Cyclist’s Body Found Near Castlerea

Police are currently probing into the demise of a cyclist in his 50s, who was discovered dead in the wee hours of Sunday at Cloonchambers, Castlerea, County Roscommon. Following discovery of the body around 2am, the man was declared dead on the spot. The body has since been moved to Roscommon University Hospital for an autopsy, the results of which will be pivotal in deciding the course of the investigation. Owing to an ongoing technical investigation by forensic collision experts, the street has now been sealed off. Local detours have been put in place.

The police are now appealing for witnesses of this tragic incident to step forward. They are seeking out any road users who might have video footage of the area, including dashboard camera footage, and who were on the move in the Castlerea area between midnight and 2am on Sunday, September 15th. These individuals are being requested to provide the police with their footage.
