“Crosswords – Appreciating the hints”

Dear Sir, — Your crossword puzzles have been a constant fixture in our household for as long as I recall. For my mother and father, it was a daily competition – a race to finish, even debating the legitimacy of solutions. Put simply, the day couldn’t commence without a glimpse of the crossword puzzle. Childhood holidays required us to courier these puzzles to their holiday abode, in a time before the internet era.

Tragically, my father departed before the pandemic, yet my mother continued this daily ritual. Unfortunately, she has also passed on recently. I sincerely wanted to extend my gratitude to you and your team for providing countless hours of enjoyment, rivalry and happiness to my parents over the years. – Kind regards,
BRYAN CONWAY,
Douglas,
Cork.
