A so-called “critical incident” has been reported in the northeast region of London, according to a local Member of Parliament (MP), in the wake of news detailing multiple stabbing instances at a local underground station. Wes Streeting, who takes on the double role as the shadow health secretary and the MP for Ilford North, revealed that emergency response teams are currently active in the area and an individual, a male, has been apprehended.
Information on the Transport for London’s official online portal confirms that the Hainault Tube station is presently shut down, attributing the cause to “a police probe in the vicinity”. In a message shared over social networking platform X, which was Twitter in its former life, Mr Streeting wrote, “A grave situation has unfolded in Hainault necessitating a lockdown of the tube station as well as various roadways. A coordinated effort by the law enforcement, medical emergency personnel, and fire department is underway.
A suspect, a male individual, has been placed under custody.” The Metropolitan Police also dropped a note on X, stating: “We are in the midst of a situation in the Hainault region. We urge everyone to responsibly adhere to the directives of the policing personnel in the field. An individual, a male, has been taken into custody.
