Dear Editor,
It’s intriguing to observe how businesses are indirectly imparting crucial life education to students progressing into higher studies. To illustrate, there’s a case of persistent price inflation, profiteering, and opportunism, as exemplified by a Galway-based retailer selling electronics. A laptop, priced at €600 on a Saturday, astonishingly jumped to a staggering €700 within a week – when the student had saved enough to buy it.
To be just, the salesperson did point to the management as the culprit and presented a cost-efficient option. It appears the student got a real-world insight into Ireland’s fiscal realities before possibly heading to Australia.
