Corpus Christi celebrated in Rome with flower festival

Celebrating Corpus Christi in Italy has been marked with the Infiorata festival in Genzano, Rome.
The festival has been part of Rome’s city life for 231 years, starting with the preparation of the flowers on Friday, and then continuing through the weekend with festivities, markets and exhibitions in which flower designs using petals, are created.

The heart of the festival takes place on the Sunday in religious festivities to celebrate Corpus Christi.
During the Infiorata, via Belardi is transformed into a carpet of flowers which can be admired before the final close of the festival, when children run down the stairs of the Santa Maria church, into the midst of the flowers.
