Emergency services are currently combating a significant inferno that erupted at a commercial site located in Coolock, a district situated on the northern side of Dublin. The outbreak of the inferno started this past Thursday at a business located on Oscar Traynor Road and is now being attended to by five fire engines.
Following the outbreak, substantial wreckage has occurred to the property and it’s releasing thick columns of smoke. Local residents have experienced ash deposits in their private gardens. The Dublin Fire Brigade commented on the situation, noting that smoke was being carried across the surrounding neighbourhood. If people perceive the smell of smoke in their residences, they have been advised to seal their windows and doors.
It’s important to note that the aviation activities at the nearby Dublin Airport have continued unhindered, with aircrafts maintaining their regular arrival and departure schedules. Notably, the recent inferno is quite a distance from the previous site of Crown Paints factory in Coolock, which had been targeted in several incendiary attacks in the preceding month.
Addressing the current situation, a spokesperson for the airport operators, DAA, stated, “This evening, the Santry area is experiencing a fire which has resulted in smoke being directed towards the airport. Nonetheless, airport activities are continuing without interruption and flight routines are being maintained. Together with AirNav Ireland, the airport crew is keeping a close eye on the evolving situation.”
