David McCord, a notorious murderer who had escaped from authorities, was recaptured by Northern Irish police. McCord had been serving a life sentence since 2004, following his conviction for the murder of Nichola Dickson, who was 26 at the time of her death.
Fifty-four-year-old McCord, who was on licence, managed to evade the prison officers while at a location on Crumlin Road in Northern Belfast last Friday. He was last spotted on Castlereagh Road at approximately half past four in the afternoon, donned in a green coat and black jogging trousers, and was carrying a red shopping bag.
In an attempt to locate McCord, who was officially declared as “unlawfully at large”, the Northern Ireland Police Service intensively worked through the weekend. They urged the absconded inmate to surrender voluntarily. Eventually, their pursuit concluded when they caught up with him in the Belfast vicinity the following Sunday. McCord has since been returned to his cell.
