Colin Farrell Runs Dublin Marathon

Over 20,000 athletes thronged the roads of Dublin for the city’s Marathon on Sunday morning. The race kicked off at 8.45am from Leeson Street Lower, where famous actor Colin Farrell was seen participating. The course winds through the city centre, crosses the River Liffey near Heuston Station, goes through Stoneybatter and the North Circular Rd, and enters Phoenix Park. Beyond this point, it crosses the river once more, heading south down the Circular Road and Dolphin’s Barn, continuing through the suburbs, with the finish line located on Mount Street Upper.

Although the leading runners are expected to finish by 11am, the strenuous event will carry on for hours more, with some participants not making it to the finish line until approximately 5pm. To manage the marathon, extensive rolling road closures are implemented across Dublin for the event’s duration. A detailed list of these can be found on the relevant website. This weekend’s climate is anticipated to be a blend of sunlight and rain showers, with heavier rain from the west anticipated to set in later on Sunday afternoon.
