Cloverhill Prisoner Death Investigated

Following an incident this morning in Cloverhill Prison, an inmate in his 40s tragically passed away, sparking an investigation by the Gardaí. The authorities were alerted to the incident, which took place just before 5.30am, prompting an emergency response. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, the individual was declared dead shortly afterwards.

In the aftermath of the event, the scene was secured by officers and prison officials for an in-depth forensic examination. As a part of the investigative process, notifications were issued to the Coroner’s office, while contributions from the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau were also called for.

A Garda Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been assigned to spearhead the case with a Family Liaison Officer (FLO) also designated to support the bereaved family during this difficult time.
