Clevernet, a firm specialising in smart buildings, has recently presented a revolutionary platform with the intention to reduce the carbon emissions of commercial properties. The Ecco platform, whose name symbolises energy, carbon, clean air optimisation, utilises a fusion of software and wireless technology in order to manage and reduce the usage of energy as well as carbon emissions. This platform assists property owners in their pursuit of sustainability objectives.
Clevernet was inaugurated in 2020 in Ireland by founders Shane Deasy, Russell McQuillan, Kieran McCrea and Gareth Morgan. The company has collaborated with a number of early users to establish the technology within various buildings throughout the UK and Ireland.
Experiments indicate that there has been a reduction of 10 percent in energy intensity across the range of structures within the Clevernet portfolio. Concurrently, there has been a related decrease in the discharge of carbon dioxide and other pollutants. One of the added benefits of the Ecco platform is clean air, which Clevernet asserts, improves the comfort and health of inhabitants of buildings.
The system also applies elements of artificial intelligence to monitor its operation. According to Deasy, the founding year of using the platform is manually labour intensive, following this period, however, software and artificial learning are instated to understand the building’s requirements and conditions including weather, occupancy and required settings.
The Ecco platform operates based on subscriptions, offering a consistent source of income. Sales for Clevernet have seen a twofold increase over the last two years, amounting to €2.5 million and continue to grow. Deasy suggests the recent energy crisis has contributed to this growth as the firm began attracting large organisations due to a surge in interest and inquiries.
He expressed concern that the recent reduction in energy expenses may prompt companies to pull back on some of their efficiency strategies that they had previously established. “My worry now is that many small-to-medium-sized enterprises are starting to ease off on energy conservation as costs decrease, because it’s not impacting their finances directly.”
Clevernet is currently expanding its focus to Europe with the official initiation of Ecco. They are aiming to enlarge their workforce in the UK and Ireland, primarily seeking talent in fields like software development, project administration and engineering.
Moreover, they are progressing in the enhancement of their building platform by integrating digital screens into select buildings. These screens will furnish real-time vital data to occupants.
