Cisa pass dedicates memorial to Marco Simoncelli

The La Cisa mountain pass is one of the ’sacred’ roads in Italy for motorcyclists who want to take on the twisty – which probably sees more motorcycle traffic than the infamous Snake in California.
The pas marks the division between the Ligurian and Tuscan Apennines, and connects the province of Parma to Tuscany and Liguria.

The town of Berceto that is located on the pass has dedicated a stele – that is placed in the square – to the late Marco Simoncelli, who tragically died at Sepang on October 23, 2011.
The memorial called ‘Spirale della Vita’ (the spiral of life) was realized by artist Pino Carcelli and unveiled in the presence of Simoncelli’s mother and father, Rosella and Paolo, and more than 1500 motorcyclists that arrived for the ceremony on Sunday.
The idea for the memorial came from the children of the Berceto middle school.
