Chris Doyle: Bauer Media Irish CEO

After a fruitful provisional tenure, Chris Doyle has been appointed as the permanent chief executive of Bauer Media Audio’s Irish division, the company that owns Today FM and Newstalk. Chris first came on board in 2021 when the German-held Bauer purchased the Communicorp Group, owned by Denis O’Brien, where Chris served as the chief operations officer.

Chris has also filled in as an interim chief executive for Bauer, following Simon Myciunka who was appointed as the CEO of Bauer’s UK stations. Bauer acknowledged Chris’s accomplishments as interim CEO, that encompasses spearheading acquisitions of iRadio, Media Central, and Beat 102-103, and taking the business to new listener number highs.

In response to his appointment, Chris expressed his joy in leading Bauer Media Audio in Ireland and praised his innovative team. He also mentioned his anticipation for Bauer’s expansion and enhancing their ties with audiences and business partners, to propel the world of audio at an exhilarating juncture.

Apart from Today FM and Newstalk, Bauer Media Audio Ireland also owns several other stations; 98FM, Spin 1038 and Spin SouthWest were acquired through the Communicorp deal. Moreover, it has since bought Red FM, iRadio, Beat 102-103 stations alongside Media Central, an advertising sales house.
