Experience the newly composed lyrics to the tune of ‘Hey Jude’ by Chesney Hawkes, an homage to the proud individual from Bellingham. It’s a treat you won’t want to miss. Here is a snippet:
“As fans of England, we sing ‘Hey Jude, it’s been long, let’s make it better’. Your triumph will etch you into our hearts and then can we commence improving it.”
“Fear not, Jude, you were meant to seize the moment. The second you secure the grand victory, you commence brightening our world.”
“You carry our national hope, Jude, after enduring nearly 60 years of torment. With your teammates supporting you, the pride of this nation cheers you on. Take us home victorious.”

Gary Lineker draws a controversial reaction from columnists at the Daily Mail
Gary Lineker, who has a reputation for being a BBC employee and seemingly edge progressive, is not favoured by a portion of the British media. Outrage ensued as he breached BBC guidelines, by wearing a T-shirt from his personal Next collection on live television the previous Sunday.
The Daily Mail’s Jan Moir was particularly offended. “Gary probably wouldn’t face repercussions if he danced the can-can on camera wearing Next shorts, munching on a bag of Walkers cheese ‘n’ onion, aggressively promoting Keir” was her commentary. When asked about his green T-shirt, she retorted, “Revolting. If it were to be named as a paint colour, it would be ‘Decaying Frog Breath’”. Short and not so sweet.
Richards’s pearls of wisdom regarding Balotelli
Whilst Micah Richards was on pundit duty for Turkey’s match against Georgia last Tuesday, the host, Mark Chapman, teased about Richards’ rocky start under Vincenzo Montella, currently head coach of Turkey, during his term on loan at Fiorentina from 2014-15. He encouraged viewers to conduct a little Google search…
Before embarking on a new journey, Richards consulted his ex-Manchester City colleague, Mario Balotelli, about the right way to say hello in Italian. On meeting the manager, Montella, Richards confidently shook his hand and said ‘testa di cazzo’, later realising it translates to “you absolute plonker”. Perhaps “Ciao” would have been a safer bet.
A remarkable stat from Euro 2024 is that 32.4% of the goals scored during the initial round of group matches came from outside the box – a significant increase on the previous highest total for an entire tournament, which stood at 18.5 per cent in 1980.
Terry Butcher, in his quote of the day, acknowledged the enormous pressure on young Diego Bellingham and suggested that many teams’ game plan may simply be to stop Bellingham in order to halt England. He compared Bellingham’s situation to that of Maradona in 1986, whose performance was instrumental in Argentina’s World Cup victory, emphasizing that it’s crucial to have a player who rises to the occasion.
