Dear Editor,
Observing year after year, it appears the anticipated Metrolink, set to establish a connection between Dublin Airport and Dublin city centre, remains frustratingly distant from fruition. Not to mention, the projected expenditure for this venture seems to be increasing manifold. This constant stalling and inflating cost may well demand a novel approach for the project to take off.
What if we consider redirecting the Royal Canal to form a route to the airport, then guiding it into the city heart? By granting licences for gondolas to transport individuals along this new section of the canal into the city, we may present a sustainable and economical alternative.
Not only would this be beneficial from an ecological and maintenance viewpoint, but it could also draw tourists, adding to its appeal.
Preserve this view,
Brian Cullen,
Dublin 16.
