Chalobah Fears Forced Chelsea Squad Omission

Trevoh Chalobah, the 25 year old defender, is considering his future at Chelsea Football Club after unexpectedly being omitted from the club’s pre-season tour of the U.S. The exclusion came as a surprise, given that Chalobah had already begun training with the new manager, Enzo Maresca. Chalobah, who has been with Chelsea since he was nine years old and made 13 appearances in the premier league last season, is thought to be taken aback by the decision.

Despite the club’s likely intensified efforts to sell him off, Chalobah’s decision will not be a rushed one. It is reported that he will carefully evaluate all permanent moving opportunities that come his way. As a former England under-21 defender, his skills are highly admired within the Premier League and beyond.

Less than two years ago, Chalobah had been granted a promising contract, which extended up until 2028 with an additional option for an extra year. Chalobah and his team are reported to be deeply disappointed with Chelsea’s move. The team’s owners, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali had previously expressed their excitement over Chalobah’s growth as a player and his extended stay at the club.

Meanwhile, Tosin Adarabioyo has arrived at Chelsea on a free transfer while Wesley Fofana’s recovery could mean Chalobah’s options might be restricted under Maresca, fuelling links with West Ham and Crystal Palace. The future of Conor Gallagher, who took part in the Euros and is now vacationing, is also uncertain, with Atlético Madrid rumoured to be very interested.

Rumours are circulating that Chelsea may be seeking a new goalkeeper, with Villarreal’s Filip Jörgensen mooted as a potential successor to Djordje Petrovic. This week sees Chelsea pitted against Wrexham in San Francisco before they head off to Indiana for a match against Celtic.

In Manchester City news, Kevin De Bruyne will not be parting ways with the club this summer, according to manager Pep Guardiola. Despite last month’s admission from the Belgian player that he would consider lucrative offers from other clubs, Guardiola insists De Bruyne isn’t set to move. Al-Ittihad of Saudi Pro League had shown interest in the player.

Guardiola discussed City’s transfer prospects ahead of their friendly match against Celtic in North Carolina and stated there was a high probability the squad will remain as-is. City’s only summer acquisition thus far has been the winger Savinho. Guardiola said that while he remains open to new additions, replacing the existing squad would be challenging due to their quality and character, leaving an 85-90% chance of no major changes.

Previously, De Bruyne acknowledged to Belgium’s Het Laatste Nieuws newspaper his attraction to the concept of a large pay check towards the end of his career, stating: “At my age you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that.”
