Celebrating the Irish Vernacular

Dear Editor,

I found Brianna Parkins’ discerning comments on Irish customs and idiosyncrasies quite fascinating, particularly her observation on the poetic beauty found in Ireland’s everyday conversations.

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of welcoming my daughter back from her summer sojourn on America’s scorching west coast, where temperatures soared to 40 degrees. Ireland’s unusually sunny September weather was an ideal backdrop for my jovial remark, “You’ve certainly brought the sunny weather back with you.”

Furthermore, upon landing in the Golden State, a notable Irishman remarked on the self-involved nature of conversation, a striking difference from the conventional discourse of an older generation of Irish men.

On another note, the cosmopolitan energy of Dublin city instills a sense of fearlessness and comfort, observed when one can saunter in the city without inhibition.

For anyone having queries about electric vehicles, we will answer how plug-in hybrids operate practically and analyze if they are financially smart choices.

Interesting yet peculiar observations include drivers watching football games on laptops, individuals having breakfast cereal, applying make-up, or even shaving while on the road.

Yours sincerely,
Mari Gallagher,
Newbridge,
Co Kildare.
