Connall Heussaf, an energy analyst, explains that the sector provides immense gratification as it allows one to contribute meaningfully to environmental development. Numerous employment opportunities exist in this field, emphasises Veon’s head of forestry, Joe Codd, but interestingly enough, they face considerable challenges in getting the appropriate individuals to fill these positions.

Brigid Walsh, who is the co-founder of Solar Evolution, points out that the value of the industry extends beyond environmental preservation as it also offers profitable employment opportunities. This is especially as multiple corporations begin to incorporate more environmentally-focused strategies and policies.

Certain attributes can aid prospective students entering the field. Joe Codd mentions a fervent interest in nature as crucial. He stresses that a person who appreciates outdoor activities will likely find a good fit in this line of work. He further adds, that while having a scientific acumen aids, it’s not strictly necessary as most degrees in this field spend the initial two years imparting general scientific knowledge.
