When everyone heard that Karel Abraham was switching to MotoGP with a team funded by his father, there were comments regarding the fact that Abraham had only one GP victory and one podium in his career, but the young Czech rider has won over a lot of fans and has garnered all around approval with his performances on a satellite Ducati.
Abraham is currently 10th in the standings with two seven place finishes and his team has renewed their deal with Ducati to continue in MotoGP in 2012, with an option to extend the partnership in 2013.
(Which lays to rest the rumor that the team was going to field a second rider next season).
“I’m definitely very satisfied, there are some things in the contract we changed in comparison to this year which I’m very happy about.
I think all these things will help me progress through MotoGP and have good results this year and next year too.
” said Abraham.
“I’m looking forward, I don’t know if we will have the opportunity to try the GP 11.
1, but I’m really looking forward to trying the 2012 Ducati.
Aside from the change in engine power there will also be some other things, they’ve worked on the chassis and the whole bike so there will be several things changed compared to this year.
I don’t see the differences yet because I don’t know all the technical differences and data at the moment.
Hopefully I’ll get that information soon.
