Canines and Primates

A person with a powerful attachment to both their canine companion and their blustery patch of gorse would cringe at the thought of harm coming their way. Dogs, labelled as human companions, have access to dedicated hotels, grooming parlours and even luxury establishments boasting of alligator-themed stylings while alive, and blessed burial grounds for when they pass on. Although this narrative isn’t entirely accurate as dogs are considered a source of dietary contentment in some regions, it remains unclear whether their value lies more in the form of fur or meat. It’s a question that induces a curious sort of hunger.

Ironically, despite sharing a closer genetic affinity, our affection towards monkeys is seemingly lesser. My partner and I once played host to a pet monkey during our stint in the jungle. Despite its plush exterior, the monkey displayed a stubborn resistance to eating leftovers. The creature was prone to fits of screaming and seemed magnetically attracted to gnawing on its leash. On its escape, we theorised it could potentially end up as a fair feast, similar to dogs in China. Perhaps a lucky buyer discovered its culinary value.

Much like the popular song suggests, farmers and cowboys seldom see eye-to-eye, the same holds true in the animal kingdom, with dogs and monkeys proving to be natural adversaries. As we humans grapple with our own savage conflicts, the animal kingdom is also embroiled in their brutal battles.

A mysterious episode unfolded in the Indian city of Maharashtra Auragabad where a young pet dog was murdered by an anonymous monkey. This triggered a feud between monkeys and dogs, the likes of any good revenge saga. Reports claim over two hundred and fifty dogs perished in the onslaught, with even innocent puppies being attacked. The monkeys were seen hoisting their tiny victims up trees and tossing them down, their fragile skulls shattering upon impact with the unforgiving earth.

“People are oblivious to what lies ahead”: Massive turnout marks Trump’s comeback to assassination attempt locale

While human and dog interactions were recognised, quickly hostility grew towards the local youths from the group. Their representatives cite prevention as the motive, since in reality, measures have to be taken before things escalate. The first kick of the game trumps a late-game downfall. Rumours persist that they would invade kitchens, bringing chaos and child misfortune. Nevertheless, the monkey horde stands there undeterred, staying within their forest habitats, awaiting the next anniversary to prey upon them.

Incidents of seagull aggression towards chip-eating beach-goers on Sunday afternoons aren’t uncommon, yet there’s no evidence to suggest any child has been transported to an eternal land by them. The dispute continues regarding the unthinkable annihilation of the humble XL Bullies who, metaphorically speaking, would never disturb the peace and quiet of a baby’s crib.

There seems to be a hidden paradigm, myth, or moral concealed somewhere here, if only I could decipher its meaning. It’s possible that our forefathers mastered the art of striking from the sky, taking down children from high altitudes, much further westward than we envisage.”
