Canada Beats Ireland in WXV1

In their second encounter of the WXV1 tournament, Ireland were defeated by hosting nation Canada 21-8 in their Vancouver match. The Irish team couldn’t replicate their initial victory over global champions New Zealand, despite delivering a robust performance. Due to a penalty try and points from Claire Gallagher and Julia Omokbuale, Canada managed to establish a 21-3 lead by half-time. However, Ireland’s Eimear Considine managed to notch the solo try of the second half.

The Irish will be facing off against team USA on Friday in their final match. The victory for Canada means they’ve managed to maintain an unbeaten record in the competition, winning all their matches so far including a winning streak of six consecutive games. Canada had previously scored seven tries in their victory over France. Their final competition match will be against England. – PA
