Can Sinn Féin Regain Popularity?

Not too distant in the past, the prospect of a Sinn Féin-led administration succeeding the next election was highly probable, drawn from their showing in the 2020 election coupled with a series of favourable polling results. However, current poll trends indicate a significant drop in Sinn Féin’s support over the past year, almost by half, coupled with subpar showings at local and European stages, casting shadows of doubt over the party’s future.

What resulted in this fall for Sinn Féin’s backing? Is there a possibility of recovery, and where should their campaign energies be directed in approaching elections?

Joining Hugh Linehan for a discussion about the fortunes of the party are political science experts Theresa Reidy and Aidan Regan.
