Bradley Captures BMW Championship Victory

Keegan Bradley triumphed at the BMW Championship powered by a wave of nationalistic encouragement, hitting an even-par 72 in the final Sunday round to secure a 12-under-par 276 at the Castle Pines Golf Club.

The victory marks a remarkable comeback for Bradley who was designated as the 2025 US Ryder Cup captain last month and was the final player to qualify for this week’s tournament.

Thanks to this, his seventh win in the PGA Tour, Bradley now heads into the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta, next week in the fourth position at 6 under following the season’s last tournament’s staggered start system.

Chants of “Let’s go captain” and “U-S-A” accompanied Bradley, who was not part of the 2023 Ryder Cup captain’s selection, everywhere on the course. He gained an unyielding lead with a par on the 537-yard, par-4 10th hole that tipped the scale against Adam Scott (72) from Australia, whose three-putt bogey on the most difficult hole led to a tie.

Rory McIlory hit a 71 on the last day, resulting in a tie for the 11th place at -6, six hits away from Bradley. Shane Lowry trailed by a shot after also hitting a 71 on the final day.

Scottie Scheffler (72), the world’s top-ranked player, tied for 33rd at the BMW, but is set to start at 10 under par as the top seed at East Lake. Xander Schauffele (71, tied for fifth) will follow at 8 under par and Hideki Matsuyama from Japan, who withdrew from the BMW due to a back injury, will be in the third position at 7 under.

Sam Burns ended with a final round best at 7-under-par 65, tying for second position with Scott and Ludvig Aberg (71) from Sweden at 11-under 277. Burns, who had eight birdies in his round and just missed a bunker shot on the par-4 18th hole that could have equalised the lead, notches his fourth career runner-up finish. Despite losing rhythm with a solitary bogey on the par-5 14th hole, he recovered with back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17, resulting in a ninth place in the FedEx Cup points as he proceeds to the Tour Championship.

Cam Davis, an Australian golfer, topped the charts with 24 birdies during the week and finished in a tie for fifth place with a score of 8-under 280, along with Tommy Fleetwood from England, who managed to secure his position in the Tour Championship by ascending from the 31st to the 22nd position in the FedEx Cup standings. Davis and Fleetwood were also joined by two other players, Xander Schauffele and Si Woo Kim from South Korea, in securing the fifth spot.
