Dear Citizens of America,
Over the previous three and a half years, our nation has made commendable strides forward. As it stands today, we can proudly say that our economy ranks as the most robust in the world. Our history-making contributions towards reconstructing our Nation, reducing the cost of prescription medication for the elderly, and extending affordable healthcare coverage to more Americans than ever before is indeed a commendable achievement.
We’ve provided imperative care to a million veterans affected by harmful toxins. Enacted the first gun safety regulation in three decades. Nominated the first African American female in history to the Supreme Court. And implemented the most momentous climate change legislation ever witnessed globally. Today, America is in the best position to guide the world.
I am well aware that none of these achievements would have been feasible without the concerted efforts of you, the American people. Jointly, we’ve battled through an unparalleled pandemic and the most extreme economic downturn since the infamous Great Depression. We’ve safeguarded and upheld our Democracy. Moreover, we’ve revived and bolstered our international alliances.
Serving you as your President has truly been the highlight of my existence. However, despite my original intention to run for re-election, I believe stepping down for the greater good of my party and the country is the right course of action. My attention for the rest of the term will solely be on my Presidential duties.
I will offer a more detailed explanation of my decision during a national address later this week.
For now, I want to show my appreciation to all who have put so much effort into my re-election campaign. I am profoundly grateful to Vice President Kamala Harris for her invaluable support in our shared mission. Moreover, I want to extend my genuine appreciation to each American citizen for your trust and unwavering belief in me. I remain true to my conviction that there is nothing beyond our reach, as long as we strive together as a united front. We must always remember, we epitomise the United States of America.
