Beanie helmets outlawed in Italy

If you were thinking of taking a motorcycle vacation in Italy next summer and wear a beanie helmet, leave it at home.
Italy has outlawed beanie helmets for all motorcycle and scooter users with the new road safety code that went into effect October 12th.
The only helmets permitted will be those homologated according to the Ece/Onu22.

To tell the truth, beanies have been outlawed since 2001, but were more or less tollerated for 50cc scooter owners, based on the fact that a 50cc has a maximum speed of 45km/h, it was considered that this type helmet was ’safe enough’ in case of a crash, but it was also tollerated for Harley users.
Now anyone caught wearing a beanie will be fined between €79 to €299 and their motorcycle impounded.
George Clooney and his friends who ride around the shores of Lake Como are warned.
