“Barry Keoghan, Cillian Murphy in Peaky Film”

Irish actors Barry Keoghan and Cillian Murphy are set to feature in the upcoming Peaky Blinders film slated for Netflix. The renowned Murphy (48), previously successful in winning an Oscar, has recommitted to reprise his role as mobster Tommy Shelby. The film’s script is penned by the creator of the original show, Steven Knight.

Keoghan (31) hails from Dublin and is recognised for his work in Saltburn. He was also an Academy Award nominee for his supporting actor role in the dark comedy, The Banshees Of Inisherin. Keoghan’s association with the saga set in Birmingham, sees him teamed up with the Shelby clan in their saga extending into World War II.

The Peaky Blinders series received critical acclaim, showcasing the ascension of the Shelby family post-World War I, within six seasons aired from 2013 to 2022 on BBC. The Dune actress, Rebecca Ferguson, has been revealed as a fresh addition to the film’s cast, although her role remains classified.

Knight has hinted at an action-packed storyline with unrestrained intensity. Murphy, now co-producing the film, dedicated it to the loyal followers of the franchise.

Murphy has had a tremendous year, bagging multiple accolities including an Oscar, Golden Globe, Bafta, Ifta and Screen Actors Guild award for his lead role in the biographical flick, Oppenheimer. The film, directed by the renowned Christopher Nolan, portrayed the life of theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer, known as the “father of the atomic bomb”.
