In the upcoming days, as the sun promises to be a welcome companion for many journeying individuals, an influx of individuals is to be anticipated. The Dublin Airport is set to welcome nearly half a million travellers from this Friday until the forthcoming Monday, with an estimated 240,000 departures and 210,000 arrivals.
Sunday is predicted to be the most hectic day at the airport over the bank holiday weekend, with approximately 117,000 passengers expected to traverse through the Dublin Airport. However, those without an allocated parking spot are advised that all car parks, excluding the short-term, are already fully booked and to consequently consider alternative transportation to the airport.
Also, with the long weekend approaching, the Irish streets are predicted to be bustling with traffic. To counteract driver fatigue, the joint collaboration between Road Safety Authority (RSA) and Applegreen service stations, offers free cups of coffee to motorists. Available from 2pm to 8pm on Friday and Monday, all one must do is reference the RSA at the Applegreen counter when ordering their beverage, to have the expense dismissed.
The weather forecast promises an abundance of sunshine for the nation, particularly on Friday and Saturday. Despite the commencement of June and the Leaving Cert season, the climate seems to remain indifferent, with a forecast predicting clouds and cooler temperatures for a large part of the following week. The bank holiday weekend is anticipated to commence with dry and sunny conditions, notably in the southern and southeastern regions, featuring sporadic clouds in the north and northwest and temperatures ranging from 15 to 20 degrees with light to moderate northerly breezes.
As we delve further into the weekend, Friday evening predicts to be dry with prolonged clear patches and temperatures between 4 and 8 degrees. Come dawn, the upcoming days promise optimal weather conditions. According to Meteorological Service, Saturday marks another dry day with extended sunny periods and temperatures ranging from 16 to 20 degrees. However, the northwestern regions may experience marginally cooler conditions due to the presence of light to moderate northwesterly winds.
While Saturday evening is anticipated to start dry and clear, increasing clouds from the northwest are expected overnight. Sunday’s forecast suggests a predominantly overcast day with minor occasional showers or drizzle drifting in from the northwest. Despite this, the south and southeast stand to benefit from any sunny intervals that occur, with the highest recorded temperatures ranging between 16 and 20 degrees.
An overcast disposition will dominate Monday, interrupted periodically by bouts of rain or drizzle, while Tuesday will follow a similar pattern, with light rain or drizzle amidst largely cloudy conditions. Despite this, some brightness is anticipated to emerge from the northwest later on, accompanied by the occasional shower. The mercury is expected to peak between 14 and 18 degrees, fanned by a moderate to fresh northwest wind. As we usher in the Leaving Cert on Wednesday, the conventional brilliant weather of examination period is projected to be absent, with both Wednesday and Thursday set to feature a cool and breezy atmosphere. Sunny intervals and isolated showers will punctuate these days, with maximum temperatures finding it hard to breach the 15-degree mark.
