“Bambie Thug’s Mum Proud of Eurovision Final”

Laura, mother to the distinctive vocalist Bambie Thug, was overflowing with pride following an enthralling Eurovision semi-final performance that assured Ireland’s spot in the upcoming Saturday final. Bambie, a pioneer in the self-defined ‘ouija pop’ genre, is set to perform in the contest’s final, marking the first time for an Irish participant since 2018.

On RTÉ’s Morning Ireland programme, Laura expressed her pride, anticipation for the final and her gratitude for their joyful experience so far. She commended the immense support from the Irish community and foresees the triumphant semi-final moment lingering for a long time to come, giving them reason to persistently rejoice.

Despite the cheers and excitement from the crowd, Bambie maintained a serene composure during Tuesday’s semi-final, according to Laura. She exclaimed that her child has always been comfortable on the big stage, adding that performing is Bambie’s life.

Laura acknowledges Bambie’s rich imagination, which was evident in their song ‘Doomsday Blue’. The collaboration with choreographer Matt Williams resulted in a mesmerizing and slightly eerie performance that stood out amongst 15 other competing nations. Bambie is now scheduled to enchant the audience once more on Saturday in Malmo, Sweden.

Laura also admired Bambie, who identifies as nonbinary, for spreading a powerful message of inclusivity.

“My relative resides in Liverpool, and they all cast their votes this evening. They hosted an extensive Eurovision gathering. One message from my cousin Helen, shared news about several of her friends having teens who are transitioning. She regards the help they get from Bambie Thug as exceptional,” expressed Laura.

“It brought tears to my eyes. I just thought it’s absolutely splendid. I couldn’t be prouder.”
