What is AVG?
AVG security is actually one of the most trusted types of antivirus programs out there and is compatible with all Windows operating systems, including the new Windows 7. It’s also available for Linux and Mac operating systems. You can download the free AVG virus scan system or you can pay for the full version. The free version offers a lot of protection but it’s usually best to pay for everything, especially if you download from untrusted places a lot.
Positive points
This anti-virus solution is compatible with all different operating systems and there is a high quality free version, which is the reason why many people opt to download it onto their systems.
There are constantly updates of the virus scanners available and usually every day. Your scanner will also run a check on your computer straight after the update has been made.
You’re alerted when your downloads have been caught with a virus, which means you can make the decision whether they really are dangerous. This is great as something types of programs downloaded will come across as a virus to the software but isn’t actually a virus; you’ll need to make sure you trust the source at times like this.
All viruses are placed into a vault or deleted if too big for the vault so your computer won’t be infected.
Negative points
You do have to pay for some of the better parts of the virus security software. This is mainly for the spyware side of the programs.
You’ll need to do all updates manually and will often be asked about whether you want an update to occur. You’ll also find that sometimes the computer will need restarting, which can be a pain if you’re in the middle of something.
Like all virus and spyware protection, some things can get past it. You’ll need to run regular virus scans to make sure everything has been caught.
It can slow down your computer, especially when updating the software. Also, the updates aren’t always uploaded correctly and you’ll need to go through it all again.
