Avcom, a leading event production agency based in Dublin, has secured a contract worth €7.5 million to deliver audiovisual and supporting services at meetings and events for Croke Park, the headquarters of GAA. Over the next five years, Avcom will be responsible for running and marketing events at this location.
The Cherry Orchard-based company, primarily managed and owned by director Paul Murphy, is set to earn €1.5 million in revenue by 2024 from this contract, with an estimated increase in annual turnover to above €2 million.
Avcom and Croke Park have had a successful business relationship spanning nine years in which the agency has provided services such as holding in-person and virtual events. Due to a competitive bidding process, Avcom has been given another opportunity to work with Croke Park.
In light of the growing inclination towards environmentally-conscious events, the company stated that its focus will be on producing sustainable events at the GAA homeground for the next five years. Interaction with Croke Park’s staff will lead to the hosting of a wide range of daily events, from conferences to concerts.
Paul Murphy views Croke Park as a unique venue in Ireland due to its commitment to sustainability. Commenting on the sustainability of the venue, Murphy asserted that their mutual dedication to an eco-friendly approach and the possibility to expose clients both locally and globally to the vibrant environment of Croke Park enhances their service portfolio.
Avcom’s head of business development, Olivia Breene, is pleased with the company’s accolade and views it as an addition to their increasing high-profile clientele which includes Trinity College Dublin and Enterprise Ireland. Breene anticipates an expansion in their continued success as they collaborate with Croke Park in the production of distinguished events.
“One of Ireland’s foremost event production firms, Avcom, matches our sustainability aspirations, which makes its role in our continued collaboration even more significant,” said Marie Smyth, the venue business head at Croke Park, regarding the re-appointment of Avcom.
Over the past few years, Avcom has been on a growth trajectory, revealing a surge in their business investment to €3 million in 2022. The company simultaneously launched an initiative to generate around 30 new vacancies over a span of two years. The firm projected its revenue to reach €12 million for this current year, a significant rise from €5 million in 2022.
Avcom was founded in 1980 and originally focused on providing audiovisual production for specific events. However, the company has notably diversified its services in the event industry since the advent of the Covid pandemic.
