Applicants seeking international protection

Dear Sir,

I urge the Government, together with Dublin City Council, to establish and maintain movable lavatory and hygiene facilities by the International Protection Office on Mount Street. Provision of primary amenities and respect for the humanity of vulnerable individuals seeking international safeguard here is indispensable while they await permanent housing solutions. Surely, there is no daunting task in this.

Yours faithfully,
NORMAN DELANTY
Ratoath,
County Meath.

Unfortunately, the Government will probably resort to offering its routine list of reasons, including the overused argument that aligning empty properties with people living on the street is exceedingly simplistic. Even then, the present dire circumstances highlight not just an enormous policy failure, but also a complete absence of innovative thinking in addressing the issue.

Yours faithfully,
TARA HORAN
Berlin.
