Appeal After Fatal Donegal Collision

A fatal road accident in Co Donegal resulted in the demise of a man and woman on late Wednesday evening. The mishap, involving two vehicles, took place on N56 at Kilmacrennan somewhere around 11.50pm, as announced by An Garda Síochána on Thursday.

The casualties were identified as the male driver (in his 70s) and the female passenger (in her 70s) of one car. They both suffered dire injuries leading to their deaths. The statement further declared that the other driver, a middle-aged woman in her 40s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital since she sustained severe injuries, which were not life-threatening.

The local coroner was informed by the Gardaí and plans are underway to conduct postmortems of the deceased. They also notified that the route between Donegal Town and Letterkenny was partially sealed during the night for examination of the accident scene by Garda forensic collision analysts on Thursday and suggested local detours.

An Garda Síochána is appealing to anyone with information relevant to the crash, or any witness, or anyone with appropriate camera footage, to come forward and make contact with the Milford Garda station on (074) 915 3060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any local garda station.
