However, climate changes, air pollution and sea level raising are threatening the life of 10 species of animals right now. Within few decades, the fair chance is that the extinct animals list will be longer. Sumatra Orangutan The population of this species have declined more than 80% during the last 75 years. Their status right now is critically endangered. The risk is that they’re going join soon the animals that are extinct. Polar Bear Climate change, ice melting and ocean level raising are seriously threatening the existence of this species. Their status is marked as vulnerable. Red Wolf Thirty years ago, there were only 17 specimens left. They were put under captivity to avoid their extinction, and the number has recently risen to 100. Nonetheless, they remain critically endangered and likely to make soon the extinct animals list. Siberian Tiger Critically endangered, the Siberian Tigers left are estimated to be circa 500. Sifaka The genus is the one of the lemur family (they looks alike the one from the Disney movie “Madagascar”) and they are endangered by hunting and slash-and-burn activities. Ten years ago there were circa 250 mature specimens alive. Vaquita This small porpoise is only found in the northern part of the Gulf of California and Mexico. Their status is critically endangered since there is left only a family, so a number between 100 and 300 specimens. Western Gorilla Western Gorillas have been decimated by hunting activities. Experts says that by 2046 their population will be decreased by 80%. They are critically endangered. Black Rhino Hunting for rhinos’ ivory horns has put rhino under serious danger. There are now 4.848 specimen left, but they are all critically endangered. Humpback Whale Its status is not critical, but “just” endangerd by hunting. There are right now between 18.000 and 20.000 humpback whales alive. Leatherback Turtle Recently passed from critically endangered to just endangered, the leatherback turtle needs to be protected from fishing and marine pollution. Nesting females are currenty 34.000 specimens.
