Sifaka The genus is the one of the lemur family (they looks alike the one from the Disney movie “Madagascar”) and they are endangered by hunting and slash-and-burn activities. Ten years ago there were circa 250 mature specimens alive. Vaquita This small porpoise is only found in the northern part of the Gulf of California and Mexico. Their status is critically endangered since there is left only a family, so a number between 100 and 300 specimens. Western Gorilla Western Gorillas have been decimated by hunting activities. Experts says that by 2046 their population will be decreased by 80%. They are critically endangered. Black Rhino Hunting for rhinos’ ivory horns has put rhino under serious danger. There are now 4.848 specimen left, but they are all critically endangered. Humpback Whale Its status is not critical, but “just” endangerd by hunting. There are right now between 18.000 and 20.000 humpback whales alive. Leatherback Turtle Recently passed from critically endangered to just endangered, the leatherback turtle needs to be protected from fishing and marine pollution. Nesting females are currenty 34.000 specimens.
