An individual in his seventh decade has tragically lost his life in an automobile accident in Kerry

A fatal road collision in Co Kerry claimed the life of a man in his seventh decade on Thursday night. The incident occurred around 6pm close to Castlecove in the vicinity of Coade on the Ring of Kerry, involving a van that swerved off the road and collided with a tree. Despite warnings being promptly issued to emergency services, the man was declared dead at the accident scene. His body has since been taken to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee where a postmortem will be conducted. Law enforcement has not disclosed the man’s identity, pending the notification of all his immediate family. The deceased is believed to have resided in the Caherdaniel region of the Iveragh Peninsula.

Moreover, access to the accident site has been cordoned off by law enforcement to facilitate a Forensic Collision Investigator’s examination, resulting in a halt in the flow of traffic between Sneem and Caherdaniel.

Incidentally, hours prior to this tragedy, a motorcyclist in his third decade lost his life in a one-vehicle collision on Dublin’s Constitution Hill. This incident happened around 2:15am, with the man being declared dead upon arrival at the Mater hospital in the city’s northern district.

The latest tragedy in Kerry has raised the death toll on Irish roads to 102 for the year, marking an increase of 13 compared to the same period last year.
